ann15024 — Announcement

IAU meeting during the GA
15 July 2015
New Commissions Organizing Committees (2015-2018)

The results for the elections of the Vice-Presidents and regular members of the new Commissions Organizing Committees are given below. In all, there were 298 candidates, listed in http://www.iau.org/submissions/commission_candidacy/review/, and 3844 votes were cast. Presidents of the new Commissions have been informed of the full results individually.

For these elections, the co-proposers (including the President) of the Commissions, approved by the Executive Committee (see http://www.iau.org/science/scientific_bodies/postga_commissions/), were considered as "ex-officio" (i.e., not to be elected) members of the Organizing Committees. They are labeled as "co-proposers" in the lists given below. The elected members are listed in alphabetical order.

Note, however, that the new Organizing Committees will become official only after formal approval by the Division Presidents and the Executive Committee, at their first meeting in Honolulu (Sunday 2 August 2015).

The following Table gives the number of votes received via the Mi-Voice electronic voting platform and the percentage of Commission members that participated in the vote. The high-to-very-high percentage (up to 86.4%) can be interpreted as a strong involvement of the community in the new Commissions.
