40th International School for Young Astronomers to take place in Egypt in 2018

The International School for Young Astronomers (ISYA) is an initiative of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) which has reinforced and promoted the development of professional astronomy in communities around the world since 1967. The 40th ISYA event will take place in Cairo, Egypt, between 26 March and 11 April 2018.

The 2018 Egypt ISYA will involve a series of lectures on astronomy and astrophysics, with practical optical photometric observations using a 1.88-metre telescope at Kottamia Astronomical Observatory (KAO), including the possibility to use data reduction techniques.

The school is sponsored and organised by the IAU, the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (NASL), the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research & Technology (ASRT), the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG), the Science & Technology Development Fund (STDF), the Kottamia Center of Scientific Excellence in Astronomy and Space Sciences (KCScE), Cairo University, Al-Azhar University, and the Planetarium Science Center (PSC) at Alexandria Library.

The deadline for applications is 15 December 2017.
