Category: Focus meetings (GA)
Location: Honolulu, HI, United States
Contact: Claus Leitherer (leitherer@stsci.edu)
Coordinating division: Division G Stars and Stellar Physics
Other divisions: Division H Interstellar Matter and Local Universe
Division J Galaxies and Cosmology
Co-Chairs of SOC: Claus Leitherer (STScI)
Stephane Charlot (IAP)
Claudia Maraston (Univ. of Portsmouth)

Topics

- multiplicity among stars
- the upper mass limit of the IMF
- stellar rotation and stellar evolution
- equation of state, core overshooting
- stellar mass loss across the HRD
- ionizing radiation in the ISM
- WR and AGB stars in galaxy SED’s
- dust production at all redshifts
- yields and metallicity evolution
- age-dating galaxies over cosmic time

Rationale

In the Focus Meeting we will bring together experts from both the astrophysics and cosmology communities. Our goal is to highlight new developments in stellar physics, and how they affect our understanding of the properties of galaxies at low and high redshift.
