The page is the main starting point for the global and local IYA2009 events and everyone interested in IYA2009 can use this page to get in contact with their local IYA2009 National Node. The Communicating Astronomy with the Public 2007 Conference (CAP2007) held in Athens (October 2007) will have IYA2009 as the main theme.

IAU names dwarf planet Eris
14 September 2006
The International Astronomical Union announces the names (136199) Eris for the dwarf planet provisionally named 2003 UB 313 and Dysnomia for its moon.
