The IAU Executive Committee is delighted to announce that Anne Thieme has joined the IAU Secretariat this month as the new IAU Membership Coordinator, taking over the duties of Lina Canas. In this role, Anne will serve as the main contact point for all individual and national members and will be responsible for managing the IAU website and membership database. She stands ready to answer any queries and is available to assist with questions and requests. She also welcomes feedback and suggestions and is looking forward to engaging with the IAU community.

Anne joins us from the International Science Council (ISC), of which the IAU is a member, where she held the role of Membership Officer from 2020 - 2025. Prior to joining the ISC, Anne coordinated a programme on endangered migratory birds of prey at the Convention on Migratory Species of the United Nations Development Programme (UNEP) in Abu Dhabi, managed the events department at the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases, and contributed to membership operations and international projects at the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM – Organics International). She holds a Master’s degree in Food Science and Technology from the Beuth University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, Germany and has been passionate about astronomy all her life. Her experience in supporting scientific unions and global networks will be a great asset to the IAU community.
