Obituary:

Dr. Vagharshak Sanamian (1917-2010), the oldest astronomer at Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory (BAO), passed away on June 30, 2010 at the age of 93.

Sanamian started working at BAO in 1950 and participated in the development of the Observatory as one of the leading world centers. He defended his Ph.D. thesis in 1957 under the supervision of the famous radio astronomer S.E. Khaikin and then led the radio astronomical investigations at BAO. He was the teacher of almost all Armenian radio astronomers of future generations. Sanamian published 72 research papers and interestingly, the last one in 2007 at the age of 90!
