Obituary:

Born in 1938 in Dushanbe.

1955-1960 student at the Dept of Mechanics and Mathematics of Lomonosov Moscow State University. 1960-1966 member of regular stuff at the Institute of Physics of Atmosphere of RAS. 1966-1969 postgraduate at SAI. Won her degree of candidate of phys.-math sciences in 1970. Since then was member of regular stuff at SAI. In 2001 won her degree of doctor of phys-math sciences.
Taranova has been a distinguished specialist in the field of IR- and 1-5 mcm investigation of different astronomical object. Her work on long-term monitoring of symbiotic stars and novae, interacting binary systems, other type variable stars, some active galaxies. She thoroughly studied the properties and evolution of dust shells in these objects (more than 200), built dust models, defined their properties and parameters. She has trained a number of specialists in the field of observation IR photometry.
