LoI 2017-300
Galaxy evolution in different environments

Date: 1 June 2017 to 30 June 2017
Category: Non-GA Symposium
Location: Paris, France
Contact: Mei Simona (simona.mei@obspm.fr)
Coordinating division: Division J Galaxies and Cosmology
Other divisions:
Chair of SOC: Simona Mei (Observatory of Paris)
Chair of LOC: Simona Mei (Observatory of Paris)

Topics

Galaxy evolution
The role of environment
The role of galaxy mass and halo mass
Gas and IGM
Feedback
Galaxy clusters
Star formation
Co-eolution of dark matter haloes

Rationale

The symposium will focus on galaxy evolution in different environments. We will concentrate on the different physical mechanisms driving galaxy evolution, the role of environment and of the evolution of the dark matter halo hosts. As privileged probes to understand evolution in dense environments, we will discuss galaxy clusters and the interplay of their different components.

The meeting will be host in the month of June 2017, for one week. The exact week will depend on the availability of an appropriate venue.

Confirmed members of the SOC: Andrea Cimatti (Italy), Emanuele Daddi (France), Carlos De Breuck (Germany), Adriano Fonatan (Italy), Mauro Giavalisco (USA), Tadayuki Kodama (Japan), Pablo Perez Gonzalez (Spain), Amelie Saintonge (UK), Daniel Stern (USA), Dannis Zaritsky (USA) + TBD

The members of the LOC will be associated to the Observatory of Paris, the IAP, the AIM/CEA, the APC
