News from The Gruber Foundation (TGF)
1) Peter Gruber (1929-2014)
The Gruber Foundation and the IAU are saddened to announce the death of Peter Gruber, co-founder and chairman emeritus of the Foundation. Mr. Gruber was an international businessman and philanthropist. He devoted significant energy to create, with his wife Patricia, an international program of awards and fellowships to promote excellence in the sciences and in human rights, as well as supporting education and character development.
Among these programs is an ongoing collaboration with the IAU for the Cosmology Prize and for the Fellowship program (see below), which started in 2000.

2) Call for Nominations: Gruber Cosmology Prize
The Gruber Foundation invites nominations on behalf of individuals whose achievements in Cosmology would make them suitable candidates for recognition through the 2015 Gruber International Prize Program. Each prize, which is accompanied by a $500,000 unrestricted monetary award, is designed both to recognize groundbreaking work in cosmology and related fields, and to inspire additional efforts that effect fundamental shifts in knowledge and culture. Recipients are selected by an international committee involving the IAU.

3) Evolution of the TGF Fellowship
The TGF Fellowship in the field of astronomy and astrophysics is evolving. The new conditions and application procedure can be found at http://www.iau.org/science/grants_prizes/gruber_foundation/fellowships/.
The most notable evolution is the change of the application deadline, now set to March 1, 2015, to encourage applications from exceptionally promising graduate students in the last year of their PhD, and from post-docs in the first year of their contract.
