Obituary:

Tõnu Kipper, a long-term leader of observational stellar astrophysics in Estonia, passed away on October 18, 2022. He graduated from the University of Tartu in 1963, just when the new observatory at Tõravere was opening, and kept working in the observatory until retirement in 2014. He contributed a lot to manufacturing and installing of the Estonian biggest, 1.5-metre telescope and equipping it with scientific instruments. His scientific interests included cool stars and unique stars evolving in real time, like FG Sge, Sakurai's object, V838 Mon. Dr. Tõnu Kipper has published about 130 scientific articles. He served in numerous commissions, committees, editorial boards etc. Astronomers from Tartu Observatory will remember Tõnu Kipper as a dedicated scientist and a great fellow.
